Meet the Team

  • Michael Akers

    Mike brings with him many years experience of shaping and delivering improvement programmes in a number of industries and blue chip organizations, both as a consultant and as a senior line staff member leading teams up to 400 strong. Mike has the unique combination of a powerful Master Black Belt and a senior executive who knows how to deliver transformation projects in complex organizations while working with various levels in the organization, he influences up to CxO level and is adept at communication from desk to board level.

    Mike has worked and consulted extensively across the globe including delivering projects and programmes in Nuclear, Defense, Power Generation, Supply Chain and various engineering fields. Mike led the Six Sigma deployment for Cummins Power Generation across multiple geographies and cultures. He has also been Operations Manager and subsequently Operations Director for a division of Honeywell.

    As well as his degree in Engineering and Operations Management and his MBA, Mike is a Chartered Engineer and a Corporate Member of the Institution of Engineering and technology. Mike is also a certified Master Black Belt, Black Belt and Lean Master. He has significant experience in developing complex programmes and leading teams through ill-defined challenges.

    He has extensive experience of working in global cultures having delivered in places as diverse as USA, India, Asia, Middle East, sub Saharan and North Africa, Caribbean, the Russian Federation and across all of Europe.

  • David Hampton

    David has worked as a senior consultant for 18 years, advising client teams implementing Operational Excellence and Data Science with a focus on rapid, tangible results. He has extensive experience in training and coaching up to Master Black Belt level, as well as deployment and change management.

    David has consulted with a wide range of companies, especially in the discrete manufacturing and Pharmaceutical sectors.  He is experienced in all functional areas, particularly manufacturing, R&D and sales/marketing. He received his Master Black Belt certification from Ford Motor Company in 2001, where he had a 20-year career in manufacturing, engineering, sales and marketing

    He is also an expert on Advanced Analytics for Big Data and delivers all the UK training for RapidMiner, the leading Data Science platform.  He designs and runs workshops to help senior managers understand the power of analytics, identify opportunities and plan the steps needed to implement proof-of-concept studies.

    David created the Data Analysis Toolkit that you will find in our shop and has developed similar advanced data analysis tools on a number of occasions – these help clients to make powerful, customised analysis available to their teams with minimal training.

  • Paul Millington

    As a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt with many years of experience in the automotive industry, Paul’s skills have enabled him to lead, manage and work effectively particularly within Manufacturing and Quality, both as an Engineer, manager and as a Six Sigma Practitioner. While gaining a wealth of experience working with people at all levels, Paul has had great success in developing and deploying technical training programs to improve business performance with a data-driven and customer-focused approach.

    Paul has led many cross-functional teams to affect positive change within the workplace to ensure robust systems are in place to maintain effectiveness and sustainability of project delivery. He works hard to build strong effective relationships with key stakeholders both internally and through the supply chain at all levels to ensure a clear vision and direction.

  • Matthew Gracie

    Matthew Gracie is a Business Excellence Evangelist using his extensive experience in Business Change Transformation from being a Lean Six Sigma and Improvement professional. He has worked as a consultant and advisor for more than fifteen years: advising, coaching and training many organisations since leading Motorola’s Lean Six Sigma Improvement programme in the 90’s.

    Matthew has advised, supported and coached many Executive, Master Black, Black and Green Belt projects from many industrials including: automotive, construction, consumer goods, financial services, health care, heavy engineering, oil & gas, packaging, pharmaceuticals, postal, power generation, smelting and transportation. Improvement Projects have been focus on all aspects of these industries including: Back office performance, customer complaints, cycle time reduction, design accuracy, distribution, margin erosion, NPI, productivity, sales performance, scrap reduction & yield improvement.  A few example projects supported: Reducing Invoice Complexity, Capex Value reduction, Reduction Line 5 process standardisation, Air Bag Production Efficiency & Alternator defect reduction.

    Matthew has presented at several Lean Six Sigma conferences and business improvement seminars. He is the author of “Business Excellence – Introduction & Guide” (an interactive iBooks title)

  • Keith Bailey

    Keith is a highly experienced and accomplished Operations Director, Engineer and Lean Six Sigma Manufacturing Consultant with over 30 years’ experience in the Manufacturing industry. He brings extensive experience in the Further education and apprentice sector in EPA, quality compliance, business development  and general management roles.

    His industry experience covers food and drink, supply chain, automotive, engineering, warehousing and logistics. He has implemented, facilitated and taught Lean Six Sigma in these sectors, helping companies identify their problems, solve them through continuous improvement and change management and drive their businesses forward through waste reduction and process optimisation.

  • Louise Warren

    Louise Warren is an assessment and quality expert, with a wealth of experience in operational delivery, strategic planning, and project management. She has led complex and extensive projects for a wide range of organisations, from small businesses to national corporations.

    She has years of experience leading teams at Director level, delivering apprenticeships, NVQ, BTEC and End Point Assessment in a wide range of disciples. Louise’s background in Banking, Finance and compliance means she has a strong ethic in terms of quality standards, processes, and procedures.

    Louise leads, trains and coaches assessors and quality assurance teams, providing consultation, project consultancy and support for assessment, training organisations & EPAOs, including support with regulatory and awarding bodies. She is a former Head of Apprenticeships for a private training provider and was Ofsted nominee, delivering excellent outcomes for apprentices and driving standards.

  • Rachel Gracie

    Rachel has 10 years’ project management experience, with qualifications including APM Project Management and Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.  Her focus in recent years has been Service Improvement, leveraging her Lean Six Sigma skills, where she has worked on and implemented a number of high-profile improvements across IT and the wider business.

    Rachel is an ex-apprentice, and has been involved with apprentices throughout her career, so she brings an understanding of the challenges this involves to her role. Working as an End Point Assessor allows her to retain that involvement, and she assesses independently for a range of different Standards.

  • Gavin Dickson

    As an experienced Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, Gavin has been responsible for developing and implementing improvement programs and initiatives across multiple industries, which have delivered bottom-line savings, mitigated business-critical risks and improved the customer experience. Gavin has an exemplary track record of delivering change in complex, global organisations and is extremely effective at changing the hearts and minds of those who resist change.

    Gavin ensures the benefits associated with change are realised by implementing the relevant governance and controls and uses data to derive insights, which mitigates against time and money being incurred on activities that have little or no business value. He prides himself on creating strong relationships with all stakeholders, both internally and externally as this creates a solid foundation for success.

  • Serge Alzonne

    Serge has worked in Operational Excellence for over twenty years and is one of the most experienced Master Black Belts in the field. He led Allied Signal’s deployment of Lean Six Sigma in France and held roles as Quality Manager and Supply Chain manager.

    His 13 years as a consultant have spanned a wide range of industries, most notably vaccines (manufacturing, R&D and general business functions) and financial services.  He has provided the consulting expertise needed for client to progress from early training and coaching of Green Belts through to full self-sufficiency.  In doing so, he draws on his experience in Quality and Supply Chain Management to engage and motivate business leaders, ensuring the programs will have the high-level support they need.

    Having trained and certified over 100 Green Belts and 50 Black Belts, Serge also has great hands-on experience delivering value for clients through successful Lean Six Sigma projects.  He is equally at home with Lean deployments, guiding clients through the implementation of visual management and daily management systems, and supporting the implementation of self-directed work teams, Kaizen and PDCA

  • Alberto Canali

    Alberto has worked as an Operational Excellence consultant for 20 years, helping business leaders understand Business Transformation and how process management, improvement, and design could fundamentally change how they lead. He guides them through the link between their business strategy, high-leverage processes and improvement projects that will yield measurable, sustainable results.

    Before entering consulting, Alberto acquired ten years of management experience, mainly in food industry in France and Italy, ranging across Manufacturing optimization, Business Development, Organization and Training,

    His consulting experience also includes HR development projects, organization and internal communication activities.

  • Kevin Ollivier

    Kevin is a highly experienced Change Agent directly involved in project delivery, training, coaching, deployment and implementation of Continuous Improvement techniques, such as Lean and Six Sigma. As a seasoned consultant, he provides practical delivery, deployment advice and support to companies at various stages of Lean and Six Sigma maturity.

    A highly motivated, enthusiastic and dedicated individual, possessing excellent communication and facilitation skills. He is used to working with management, office and factory based employees at both hands on and strategic levels. He is a team player, able to mould and lead teams so that they achieve their stated objectives in a timely manner. He uses these skills to obtain trust and build strong co-operative working relationships quickly. This is reflected in his extremely high project completion rates, feedback scores and client references.

    Kevin has 14 years consulting experience gained within transactional and manufacturing environments. He has worked with clients from 32 countries and has delivered/supported over 380 projects returning $175 Million hard savings. He has trained >2,000 candidates in Lean and Six Sigma (from awareness to Master Black Belt).

  • James Vallance

    James delivers customized consultancy on process improvement, strategy implementation, and Lean Six Sigma methodology and tools. He also provided project analysis, advocacy, and delivery on customer centric solutions for a variety of clients, and has led a Six Sigma roll-out program, delivering Black Belt projects with annualized savings of several million pounds.

    In his earlier career, James was an Operational Excellence Expert Trainer at GSK in their Global Manufacturing & Supply department. There, he provided project management for the “Operational Excellence” lean six sigma roll-out training program.  He also spent some time at SmithKline Beecham International where his most recent position with the company was a Human Resources Organizational Development Manager. There, he was responsible for implementing strategic organizational change initiatives and corporate culture programs within the international division.

  • Dr Alexander Hampton

    Alexander provides additional Data Science skills as and when required for client work.  He completed his PhD in Chemistry in 2020, developed his analytics skills for his thesis, and now works as a Data Scientist for a rail company.  He specialises in Python programming and Excel, so he has also made a major contribution to the development of our Data Analysis Toolkit, in addition to his work supporting our clients.

    His particular area of focus is Natural Language Processing, where he has completed projects including identification of stress markers in social media and automated extraction of key information from unstructured data in corporate disclosure documents.
